This website is now mothballed.
It was 'live' during most of the year 2007 to co-ordinate the neighbours' objections to a planning application. The application was successfully defeated and this site remains as a record of the activities which surrounded it. Residents in other localities may receive support from us if they face the type of potential disruption, villification and lack of understanding from large organisations that we have.

The story began when a single resident of a pleasant neighbourhood heard about a planning application being made by / with the local school.
The plan would bring hundreds of outsiders into a quiet area, to play football, and drink until late into the night, on the premises of a mixed-sex school!
Our campaign to defeat the application included the formation of a central committee, the collection of email addresses of all residents, letters to the press, car stickers, collaboration with other residents' groups facing the same threat, this web site, letters to the school, involvement of MPs, councillors, the police, etc...
The climax was a hot Summer evening when the application was heard by the planning committee. Over 100 objectors attended, and the point was made. The application was almost unanimously rejected. The applicants had 6 months to appeal - a period which has now elapsed.
Any future attempts would require re-starting the whole process - which would be a shame for all concerned.
We are not complacent, and have not dropped our guard but, for now, peace has returned to the area.
